Spores
'Spores’ is a 60cm x 60cm abstract composition using blue, green and yellow acrylics over a cracked clay surface.
The cracked clay texture and colour combination is a quintessential Samuel Deacon painting, with the addition of the overlapping circle patterns which is a more structured version of his typical abstracts.
The nature inspired title and colour palette is a recurring feature in his work.
The white acrylic in the foreground, applied with a dry brush, highlights the cracks and ridges created using the air cracked clay.
Looking through his series, you will notice that Samuel prefers to blend colours into each other and avoid structure and recognisable form. Spores is an exception from his usual style.
