Unique Textured Original Abstract Paintings Made In London

About

Samuel Deacon is an abstract artist who creates beautiful textured paintings.

His thick textural work has been exhibited in galleries across London and he has recently begun to sell his pieces to private clients and trade professionals for showrooms and interior design projects.

Samuel was drawn to abstract paintings with a multitude of colour since his studies from an early age where he grew up in Wiltshire. He explored and developed his technique through many subjects and mediums, finding inspiration from the paintings by artists such as Frank Bowling and Jackson Pollock, and the sculptural works of Louise Nevelson and Rebecca Horn.

After reading Interior Architecture at University, he began again to pursue his passion for painting after moving to London where he is able to exercise his spatial skills during his work as a Wine Cellar Designer.

"I am simply on a journey to capture beauty through colour and texture, and I want to make people happy whilst I am on it."

Samuel Deacon is an English abstract artist, creating striking paintings with bold texture and colour from his home in London.

Working as a wine cellar designer and as a graduate of Interior Architecture, Samuel's exploration into abstract art began after university as a rebellion against the restrictive nature of spatial design and as a way to channel the creativity he is unable to articulate with construction drawings. Furthermore, he has always been drawn to textured objects, whether that be a crumbling wall or a ripped up bill board, and his paintings reflect this aversion against a flat canvas.

His work is a result of experimentation with materials such as plaster, clay and gels and his passion for creating striking colour palettes which place his work on the scale between painting and sculpture.

Using a combination of these materials alongside acrylic paints and a very dry brush or palette knives, Samuel is able to apply many colour layers within the same day, allowing the direction of the painting to change many times until is happy with the finished piece.

While the outcome of the painting may be dictated by the unpredictable finish of the plaster and air cracked clay once dried, music, nature and emotion are Samuel's main influences while painting and during his colour selection process.

as a gay artist and a passionate advocate against climate change, Samuel is translating LGBT and green themes into his paintings to make a positive change in today's world.

Samuel's artwork titles are often enigmatic, allowing viewers to connect the paintings to their experiences and daily lives.

He believes that his work should be open for interpretation and enjoys hearing what people 'see' in each piece.
