Leviathan
Leviathan is part of the Up-Cycled collection.
Leviathan and Behemoth are two cupboard doors with pouring paints applied into the inset panel in contrasting colours.
The door itself has been filled and then glossed white to resemble a frame, then the inner panel is filled with pouring paints.
Samuel has used green and blue tones with black in Leviathan, whereas Behemoth uses red and gold tones with white.
The name Leviathan and Behemoth came from the names of beasts mentioned in the book of Job in the Hebrew bible and in the Old Testament.
The contrast in colours between both art works led Samuel down the path of Chaos and Calm.
"Both are of Babylonian origin, where they are creatures of the primal Chaos, Behemoth of the Earth and male, Leviathan of the Ocean Deep and female."
